The Convention People's Party (CPP) is a political party in Ghana, based on the ideas of former President Kwame Nkrumah.

The CPP was formed in 1949 by Kwame Nkrumah to campaign for the independence of the Gold Coast. It ruled Ghana from 1957 to 1966. During the latter part of the CPP rule, the constitution was changed to make it the only legal party in Ghana, making the nation a one-party state. The party was banned after the February 24, 1966 coup d'état by the National Liberation Council. Parties following in its tradition have used various names.[1] The party was reformed from some of the Nkrumah factions in 1996.

>>> [] Creation

The United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC) had been formed in 1947 with the goal of bringing about independence for Ghana. Kwame Nkrumah thought the UGCC's opposition to the colonial rulers lacked the necessary vehemence and urgency; he wanted immediate independence. Breaking from the UGCC on these grounds, he founded the CPP with the motto "self-government now". On 9 January 1950 the CPP called for countrywide boycotts and strikes. In the course of these, two policemen were shot dead, and the CPP leadership was arrested and imprisoned. This only increased Nkrumah's popularity. When general elections were held in 1951, the CPP won decisively despite the imprisonment of Dr Nkrumah and other party leaders. Nkrumah was subsequently released to form the colony's first African government. [2]

>>> [] CPP Achieves Independence

With all this background, Nkrumah formed his first African cabinet in the British Empire in 1951. This was not independence yet. He still rejected the idea that local rulers who favored the British should be given a role in governing, since he viewed them as undemocratic. Ironically, he would eventually become head of a one-party state.

In 1956 further elections were held, with the British promising that if the majority of the people called for it, a date for independence would be set. The CPP won 71 out 104 seats, paving the way for Ghana to gain its independence on 6 March, 1957. In 1958, two pieces of legislation approved by the CPP would help hasten Nkrumah's downfall. One was the Trade Union Act, which made strikes illegal, and the Preventive Detention Act, which allowed the government to detain political opponents without trial. The stage was set for the overthrow of the CPP in 1966 in a coup d’état by the National Liberation Council.

After the coup, the CPP was banned.

>>> [] CPP rebirth

The CPP remained dissolved till January 29, 1996, when the National Convention Party and the People's Convention Party merged to form a new Convention People's Party.[3] The CPP has contested each election since 1996.

At the elections, 7 December 2004, the party won 3 out of 230 seats. Its candidate in the presidential elections, George Aggudey, won only 1.0% of the vote.

In the 2008 presidential and parliamentary elections in Ghana, the party won one parliamentary seat; that of Samia Nkrumah in the Jomoro constituency. The presidential candidate, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom performed below expectation managing to get 1.4% of total valid votes.

"I Am CPP Shadow President" --- Says "Kwame Mayor"

By Tsi-Tsi Mashinini, UHURU TIMES
KwameMayor

                      THE NEWS !!!
              ================

Buoyed by his huge success in calling for one of the largest and peaceful (Non-Violent) --- Immigrants Rights' Protests in the history of United States of America on July 29, 2010 --- (but shocked and dismayed that despite his daily and aggressive promotion of the Convention People's Party (CPP) in his own Native Country of Ghana, the leadership of his Political Party forgot entirely about him when they shared Shadow Cabinet positions --- and moreover, expressing concern that the Party's action was "elitist", charismatic 2004/2008 CPP Parliamentary Candidate for Nhyiaeso Constituency in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, and former Ghanaian-American Los Angeles Mayoral Candidate, "Osagyefo Dr" Kwame Appiah Boateng, popularly known by Ghanaians around the World as "Kwame Mayor" --- (alumnus of the prestigious University of Southern California [USC], and anticipated Ph.D. Student in Political Science at the equally prestigious Claremont Graduate University [CGU], who is highly regarded by American Public officials as "more educated than 70 % of America's population" and a highly sophisticated Intellectual) --- openly declared on his Campaign Website : WWW.KwameforPresident.Com) --- that he is the "CPP Shadow President".

The self proclaimed re-incarnation of Ghana's first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, who has always spared CPP from public attacks --- in view of his membership of Dr. Nkrumah's Party, and has for many years, systematically attacked both the NDC and NPP, pointed out that the action of CPP leadership reflects what they would do if the Party were to win political power again.

   " While I was in the trenches fighting like the legendary Nelson Mandela, against the abominable and extraordinary Human Rights abuses; Blood-Thirstiness, Bizarre Terrorism, First-Class Hypocrisy and Hi-Tech Corruption of former Military Junta Leader, Jerry John Rawlings, and while I was also fighting the greediness, corruption, selfishness and arrogance of former President John Agyekum Kufuor, where were those elitists ?, asked the Ghanaian-born "America's Mandela", whose very biological Great-Grand Fathers from the Adonteng Puduo Royal Family of Bamang, near the Kente weaving Town of Bonwire in the Ashanti Region of Ghana --- in their capacity as Asante War Generals, gallantly led Asante Kingdom's glorious wars against Colonialism and Imperialism, perpetuated on African Soil by "Our British White Brothers and Sisters".

"Osagyefo Dr" Kwame Mayor said a [few] over-ambitious CPP Folks act selfishly and ignorantly, instead of treating all CPP members as Comrades".

   " Whereas I see them as Comrades, a few Power-Drunk and Over-Ambitious among them regard my Powerful Pen as a political threat, and instead of treating me as a Comrade, they are worried about my Political ambition to seek CPP Flagbearership", said the CPP Firebrand who has publicly announced plans to raise money to lead the Party of Ghana's first President, as its 2012 Flagbearer.

   "Thank God Almighty that 99.9% of CPP Comrades are Good People", said the "People's Politician" who says that as soon as he raises substantial amount of money for his Political Campaign, he would definately emerge as the Flagbearer of CPP.
Turning to NPP's Presidential race, the Charismatic Politician said that NPP Presidential Candidate, Allan Kwadwo Kyerematen, "Allan Cash" is the best Candidate to lead the Party to victory in 2012, but delegates should nevertheless vote for Nana Akuffo Addo".
"Osagyefo Dr" Kwame Appiah Boateng, "Kwame Mayor", reminded Ghanaians that just as U.S. President Barack Obama endorsed his Political Republican rival John McCain during the Primaries, (because he [Obama] believed he could easily defeat [McCain]), --- he can easily defeat Nana Akuffo Addo as NPP's Flagbearer, said the aspiring 2012 CPP Presidential Candidate on his Campaign Website WWW.KwameforPresident.Com.

    "I can easily defeat the respectable Old Man, Nana Akuffo Addo", said the young and energetic aspiring CPP Presidential Candidate, "Kwame Mayor".

Praising NPP Presidential aspirant, Allan Kyerematen, alias "Allan Cash" as a youthful and energetic Candidate who perhaps, can effectively deal with the new era of "Computer Age", an aspiring 2012 CPP Presidential Candidate, "Osagyefo Dr" Kwame Appiah Boateng, popularly known by Ghanaians around the World as "Kwame Mayor", lamenting that "Allan Cash" is "Kufuor's Man" in the eyes of many Ghanaians and that the former President could use "Allan Cash" as a "Puppet", in the same way Rawlings did to His Excellency, President John Evans Atta Mills --- has surprisingly, endorsed Nana Akufo Addo for NPP's 2012 Flagbearership --- according to the Politician's Campaign Website : WWW.KwameforPresident.Com

    "Octopus Paul appeared in my dream and chose Nana Akuffo Addo as the 2012 NPP Flagbearer", said the "People's Politician".

   "The same Octopus Paul said that [if] I could mobilize Millions of Dollars and logistical support as President Obama and Hillary Clinton did during their campaign, I would surely win Ghana's 2012 Presidential election".

The Politician said that before Octopus Paul departed from his dream, it predicted that President Barack Obama would win a second term, but advised Obama to 'right the wrongs' his (Obama's Campaign) did to him, after volunteering and serving as Obama's Precinct Captain in Long Beach - (yet, Obama's administration has since his assumption into office, failed to even respond to the resume sent by the former Ghanaian-American Los Angeles Mayoral Candidate).

   "Nana Akuffo Addo is more experienced and democratic who has sacrificed more for the NPP tradition in the same way as I have sacrificed everyday intellectually to promote CPP", said "Osagyefo Dr" Kwame Mayor, a Centrist Politician.

   "Although I have endorsed Nana Akuffo Addo, it is very important for him to learn to be humble and fair-minded", said the "People's Politician" who hinted that Nana Akuffo Addo's demeanor towards him when he first met him in Los Angeles before the 2008 Ghana's Presidential election, in the company of Allan Kyerematen was not pleasant at all.

    "The NPP Southern California invited me to attend an event hosted for Nana Akufo Addo during the 2008 Presidential race in Los Angeles.  Upon my arrival, I was introduced as "Kwame Mayor".  I observed Nana Akuffo Addo turning suddenly to ask Allan Kyerematen a question and pointing towards me.

   "Perhaps, Nana Akuffo Addo asked Allan Kyerematen :

"Is that him" ?.

   "Although I did not hear exactly what Nana Akuffo addo asked Allan Kyerematen about me, his attitude changed immediately as he shook my hand and I introduced myself as the nephew of Mr. Joe Appiah, Ghana's Great Politician of Blessed Memory who was a former member of the United Party tradition."

"Osagyefo Dr" Kwame said that the NPP, an offspring of the U.P. tradition is actually the Political Party of Danquah-Busia-Dombo and Joe Appiah Tradition.

"Osagyefo Dr" Kwame Mayor, who was born into CPP Tradition, except that his uncle, Joe Appiah of Blessed Memory was a prominent member of the U.P. tradition, said that despite his endorsement of Nana Akuffo Addo, he would lead CPP to a sweeping and convincing victory in 2012, and defeat NDC and NPP.

The Ghanaian born "America's Mandela" pledged to appoint the daughter of Kwame Nkrumah's daughter, Hon. Samia Nkrumah as his running mate.

   "The whole World knows that "Osagyefo Dr" Kwame Mayor has an extraordinary Brain Power to rule a Nation and transform Ghana and Africa in general into a Super Power status", said the Pro-American Democracy Activist and a Civil Rights Icon in his own right, as he appealed for Sponsors and logistics on his Campaign Website and (Facebooks) : KwameforPresident2012@Verizon.Net and KwameMayor@Gmail.Com, to run a "Winning Presidential Campaign" in Ghana's 2012 elections.

"Osagyefo Dr" Kwame Mayor repeated that although Allan Kyerematen, "Allan Cash" appears to be the best Candidate; youthful and exposed to "America's advanced democratic system", his greatest dis-advantage is being viewed by the public as "Kufuor's Man" --- an unpleasant memory that would remind him ("Kwame Mayor") of how the former President systematically stole his strategic ideas for almost eight (8) years, yet, with the help of the disgraced Kwadwo Mpiani and Stephen Asamoah-Boateng "Asaabe", persecuted and tortured his life for politically-motivated reasons.
Meanwhile, the Populist Politician is circulating Petitions to Ghanaians around the World to sign, calling for an end to "Politics of Insults" in the Country -----

Former Ghanaian-American Los Angeles Mayoral Candidate - turned 2004/2008 CPP Parliamentary Candidate for Nhyiaeso Constituency in Kumasi, Ashanti Region --- "Osagyefo Dr" Kwame Appiah Boateng, popularly known by Ghanaians around the World as "Kwame Mayor", a former Ghanaian-American Los Angeles Mayoral Candidate and 2004/2008 CPP Parliamentary Candidate for Nhyiaeso Constituency in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, who has assured the Nation that he can easily lead the CPP, the Political Party of Ghana's first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah into victory in 2012 ---  after years of "teasing" the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that he would join their ranks, and in the process, winning the hearts of many of their followers --- has publicly announced on his Campaign Website : WWW.KwameforPresident.Com that he is circulating Petitions to Ghanaians around the World, via his Facebooks : KwameforPresident2012@Verizon.Net and KwameMayor@Gmail.Com, to sign, calling for an end to Politically-motivated insults in Ghana.

   " Ghana has not reached the stage of Political tolerance like the United States of America where Vice President Joe Biden, overwhelmed with joy over the passage of the Universal Health-Care for Americans, said "This is a F...... Big Deal ...", and the same USA, a Super Power and Leader of the Free World where former Vice President Dick Cheney once publicly insulted a Law Maker by uttering "Go F...... Yourself...."

   "Ghana is a young Democracy and we should not allow Political insults to destroy it, said the Populist Politician who is appealing to all Ghanaians who believe in decent Politics to sign his "No More Political Insults" Petition.

"Osagyefo Dr" Kwame Mayor asked the Flagbearers of the various Political organizations in Ghana and Political Leaders such as former Military Junta Leader, Jerry John Rawlings, former President John Agyekum Kufuor and Kofi "Chuck" Wayo, as well as members of Ghana's Parliament, especially the Minority Leader, to publicly pledge and sign his Petition to end Political Insults in the Country.

On Constructive Criticisms, the "People's Politician" noted that it is the "Engine of Political Growth in a Democracy and Ingredients for National Advancement", but cautioned Ghanaians that he would no longer offer constructive criticisms if the Political Culture is not ready for positive change.

Touching on his Political Career, the CPP firebrand and Catholic said that he could not join the NDC because of the fact that its Founder, Jerry John Rawlings spilled Human Blood and that he would join that Party only [if] Rawlings apologises to the People of Ghana for his Human Rights abuses; relieves himself as the Founder of the Party and moreover, [if] NDC embarks on a National or Pan-Africanist agenda and finally, [if] the Party treats [all] Ghanaians with Equal Rights and Justice and finally, if the NDC works to end or clean up its anti-Akan image, especially, its anti-Asante stand and someday.
Regarding the NPP, the "People's Politician" asked the Party to cultivate a Pan-Africanist agenda and strive to reach the realities of the Politics of the "New Millennium" and allow members of other Ethnic groups such as our friends, brothers and sisters from the Northern part of Ghana and also, our friends, brothers and sisters who are Ewes and Gas, etc, to become NPP Flagbearers and work for the interest of all Ghanaians --- in the same way, NDC should allow Asantes, Kwahus, Denkyiras, Akuapems, Ewes, etc, to become a Flagbearer and work for the interest of all Ghanaians.

    "Ghana needs a National and Pan-Africanist Agenda not Tribal or Ethnic Agendas", said the Populist Politician who is optimistic of leading CPP to victory in 2012, to end the Politics of "Ethnic Divide" in Ghana.

The Pro-American Democracy Activist and Legendary Human Rights and Civil Rights Activist, dubbed "America's Mandela" asked His Excellency, President John Evans Atta Mills to end the recent Politics of Censorship, intimidation, arrest and interrogation of Journalist(s), especially, the harassment of Joy FM's Acting Editor.

      " Even former President John Agyekum Kufuor, my nemesis who persecuted me after his government had systematically stolen my strategic ideas, at least, allowed Press Freedom in Ghana", said the "Larger than Life Politician" who says he is now a "Born-Again Christian" and has publicly forgiven former President John Agyekum Kufuor and former Military Junta Leader, Jerry John Raswlings.

   "Folks, forgiveness does not mean that I should not remind Humanity about Human Rights and Civil Rights abuses and shame the Conscience of those who abuse their powers to steal from the People, and those who abuse their powers to persecute, kill, torture, and maim Civilians after arrogating to themselves, the Powers of Judge and Jury", said the Ghanaian born Politician, reverred as "America's Mandela".

   " And by the way, how can we forgive those who [refuse] to ask for forgiveness" ?, the  Politician asked, as he publicly hinted that he would not hesitate to forgive ex-AFRC Military Dictators, Jerry John Rawlings (whose hands are equally guilty of murdering Rear Admiral Joy Yao Amedume), and Boakye Djan, (who personally ordered the execution of the brave Okatakyie Akwasi Amankwa Afrifa) --- on condition that they themselves ask for forgiveness.

  "Folks, the decision is in the hands of Jerry John Rawlings and Boakye Djan to make : to publicly ask for forgiveness or to be condemned by history", said the "Democratic Rebel with a Good Cause".

   " I don't hate Kufuor, Rawlings or Boakye Djan".

    " I don't hate anybody, period", said "Osagyefo Dr" Kwame Mayor.

     " However, I despise evil deeds", explained the Politician.

Returning to his endorsement of Nana Akuffo Addo for 2012 NPP Flagbearership, the "People's Politician" credited Octopus Paul for actually, reversing its choice of Allan Kyerematen, "Allan Cash" and selecting Nana Akuffo Addo.

Turning to the affairs of his own Political Party, "Osagyefo Dr" Kwame Mayor repeated :

   "Thank God Almighty that 99.9% of CPP Comrades are Good People" --- and reflecting once again upon the fact that the CPP Leadership did not offer him a Shadow Cabinet position, "Osagyefo Dr" Kwame Mayor said the appointed CPP Shadow Ministers should be content with their Cabinet positions.

    "They say they are CPP Shadow Cabinet Ministers and I say I am CPP shadow President", said the "Politician of the People, by the People and for the People".

Politician Declares Moral Victory in Protest March Against Arizona's Law

 NEWS !!!,                 NEWS !!!,            NEWS !!!

By Puduo Adonteng and Chuku Achebe, MORNING STAR NEWS.

MARCH ORGANIZER : "Osagyefo Dr" Kwame Appiah Boateng, ("Kwame Mayor").

"AMERICA'S MANDELA"

                                   THE NEWS !!!
                                ============
Former Ghanaian-American Los Angeles Mayoral Candidate and CPP Parliamentary Candidate for Nhyiaeso Constituency in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, "Osagyefo Dr" Kwame Appiah Boateng, "Kwame Mayor", had on July 27, 2010 threatened to organize the largest "Immigrants Rights" Rally in U.S. history scheduled on July 29, 2010 against Arizona's Un-American and Anti-Immigrants' Law and sent electronic mail to the White House to announce his intent to embark on such a Peaceful (Non-Violent) March.
A day later, a Judge struck down the specific Arizona Law that would have required Police to ask People of their "Papers" --- (It should be noted that the former Ghanaian-American Los Angeles Mayoral Candidate had threatened in his Electronic Correspondence to the White House and to Los Angeles Times, New York Times and to President Barack Obama's affiliated Organizing for America, etc, etc, --- that he planned to organize the largest Immigrants Rights Rally in the history of United States of America on the day Arizona's Law was to take effect).
   "Surely, the White House and President Obama's affiliated organization, Organizing for America knew about my publicly announced plan to organize the largest protest across America against Arizona's Law on July 29, 2010", said the "People's Politician" who has hinted that soon after sending the White House and the News Media his Electronic mail threatening to stage the largest protest march against Arizona's un-American Law, his Students Loans Collectors called and left him several messages.
The Civil Rights and Human Rights Icon reminded the World Community that in late 2006, he was notified that his Student Loan collections had been assigned to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
   " My Student Loans have been used as a Political tool for persecution, torture, harassment and has caused me reasonable fear for my life ever since Police suspiciously stormed into my residence".
    "It should also be emphasised that when I ran for public office in Freedom-Loving and Civilized Democrtatic America --- (after becoming the first Ghanaian-American or the first indigenous African to run for a higher political office in the history of America) --- I was subjected into one of the "Cruelest and Sub-Animalist Torture unprecedented in history in the hands of a [few] Political Terrorist and Enemies of America's noble ideals and ideas of Democracy, Freedom and Liberty".
   "After I reported the torture unleashed on me to the then President Bill Clinton's White House, a [few] Los Angeles Police Officers stormed into the residence I was living in late at night, and I strongly and reasonably believe that the [few] Terrorists who do not represent the many honest and dedicated Police Officers, had plotted to assassinate me", said the Civil Rights Champion, dubbed "America's Mandela" who has publicly asked President Barack Obama's White House to re-visit and reopen serious investigations into his complaints since he initially filed a complaint with Clinton's White House and Justice Department under Janet Reno did nothing meaningful about it.
    "There are still dangerous Political Terrorists harassing me in an act of cowardice --- without the knowledge and consent of the Civilized and Democratic White House and without the knowledge of Brave American People and the White House should declare war against these Hi-Tech Savage Torturers, Persecutors and Terrorists who are not different from the Al-Quedas we are legitimately fighting against", said "America's Mandela".
   " I am being tortured everyday in a clear covert and overt operations, and some of these useless Political Terrorists or Intelligence agencies who have tortured me for years, have been in collaboration with governmental and institutionalized Terrorists in my Native Country of Ghana --- since the days of former Military Junta Leader, Jerry John Rawlings; former President John Agyekum's government to present".
   " I call upon all brave Americans and brave Ghanaians who sincerely believe in the noble ideals and ideas of Democracy, Freedom and Liberty to be 100% ready to fight back against Terrorists and retaliate against the useless Political Terrorists by pouring into the streets in Millions in a show of People's Power if they plot again against me".
    "Fight Political Terrorists, all you brave African-Americans, Caribbeans, Whites, Hispanics, Asians, Native Indians, Africans and Ghanaians".
    " An attack against Democracy should be considered an attack against all of us, and an attack against me should be considered an attack against all of you", the Politician told the World audience.

The aspiring Presidential Candidate, "Osagyefo Dr" Kwame Appiah Boateng, "Kwame Mayor", who threatened to hold the largest "Immigrants' Right Rally" in U.S. history, has claimed partial victory in Arizona's Court ruling striking down the State's Anti-Immigration Law that would have required Police to ask People of their "Papers".

      " I am not the only Person who fought Arizona's Anti-Immigrants' Law, but I am proud that I joined the Millions of People who fought for Immigrants Rights and truly believe that United States of America is the Land of Immigrants".

The ex-Ghanaian-American Candidate for Mayor of Los Angeles, "Osagyefo Dr" Kwame Appiah Boateng, popularly known by Ghanaians around the World as "Kwame Mayor", an anticipated Ph.D. Student in Political Science at the equally prestigious Claremont Graduate University (CGU) --- a Civil Rights Icon in his own right and International Politician who has declared his Candidacy to run for President in his Native Country of Ghana, had (earlier) threatened to call for the largest Peaceful (Non-Violent) Immigrants' Rights Rally in U.S. History to protest Arizona's Anti-Immigrants' Law which comes to effect on Thursday, July 29, 2010 --- and publicly appealed to President Barack Obama on WWW.KwameforPresident.Com to grant Amnesty to hard-working Immigrants while securing U.S. borders.

Meanwhile, the "Immigrants' Rights Organiser" has publicly appealed for audiences with Pope Benedict; President Barack Obama, Queen Elizabeth, Mexican President Calderon, Nelson Mandela and Members of the Nobel Peace Prize Committee to discuss about his Moral Crusades --- and publicly called upon United Nations (U.N.) to recognise his years of tireless Crusades for Democracy, Human Rights, Unity; Peaceful (Non-Violent) Solutions, Justice and Equality for the under-privileged.

"It is time for the United Nations, United States Congress and the White House to recognise my selfless Democracy, Civil Rights and Human Rights efforts on behalf of Humanity", said the Charismatic Ghanaian-American Politician, dubbed "America's Mandela", who has always used his Powerful Pen to bring Democratic changes in his Native Country of Ghana.
